SPIRITUALITY OF CHILDREN: You are Invited...

Re: Spirituality of children.

Friends:

Recently I was invited to share my storytelling art and craft to an innovative and popular program to teach bible stories to children, called Godly Play. I have attend a fine workshop by Lois Howard on the approach and play to respond to this invitation from a local church.

I have an interest in the spirituality of children and storytelling. IN fact, much earlier this year, I offered a workshop to the annual fall conference of Kentucky Storytelling Association, but it was turned down. This was probably not for reason of the subject, but that I had led workshops at the last three conferences and wanted space for new leadersr.

The Godly Play, approach and materials has simulated my curiosity about the Spirituality of children and the connection with storytelling, enough to write a paper this past month on the subject, web link http://storytellinglexingtonky.blogspot.com/

Announcement: I plan to study the Spirituality of childrens this fall, as a research project, with an online newsletter (blog), inviting others to participate and add their comments. We invite parents, teachers, librarians, storytellers and possibly ministers too. If there is enough interest, we will plan a workshop on the Spirituality of children later this Fall, or perhaps Spring.

So if you have an interest in this subject, you may participate online by reading and commenting, Here is the link.
I have gathered additional resources from others who have written on the subject, Robert Coles, David Hall, Rebecca Nye, and Jerome Berry man and will be summarized some of their main points. Allow me to suggest that the discussion begin with a reading of my paper, which begins by distinguishing between religion and spirituality. If you want to post a comment, please copy me at paschal.baute@insightbb. Com. There may be an inviatin process to allow you to become a subscribed member for actively participate. So, please email me if you desire to be an active member in this discussion, that is, more than just read the posts.

Aim: I want to spur interests in the spirituality of children. I believe we can be more effective in parenting, education and storytelling by undertaking this discussion, which should also be fun. I am excited about this project and its possibilities.

Our purpose is to PRODUCE a PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR THOSE WHO COMMUNICATE WITH CHILDREN. So far we cannot find anything that addresses this directly., clearly and succinctly. Our goal is to accomplish this by December 1, or the beginning of Advent.
